Ghost of Tsushima: Legends

Sucker Punch Productions has just announced that an upcoming update for their much-lauded and very-excellent open world Samurai game Ghost of Tsushima will add two-to-four-player co-op this fall. The update will be titled Legends.

In a post on the Playstation Blog, Sucker Punch Senior Games Designer Darren Bridges lays out what players can expect from this update. The best and most important chunk of news is of course that this update will be free.

Legend will be a separate mode that doesn’t focus on the protagonist from the single-player base game. It will instead feature a more fantastical group of Samurai influenced by Japanese myths and folklore. It sounds to me like Legends will eschew the relative realism of the single-player game and dive into some more mythological elements.

One thing to note, this will be exclusively multiplayer-focused content. So fans of the base single-player game shouldn’t expect any additional content for Jin to tackle.

Ghost of Tsushima: Legends

Three modes were teased for Legends so far. With two players, you can face a series of co-op story missions, and with four players, you can play a survival-type game mode against waves of enemies. Shortly after the launch of Legends, a four-player raid will be added so seasoned vets can test both their steel and their mettle.

I am not traditionally big one cooperative game modes, but I must admit that Ghost of Tsushima: Legends has me interested. As a fan of the base game, I’m interested in seeing what multiple samurai can do when putting their skills together.

Ghost of Tsushima: Legends has a painfully ambiguous “fall of 2020” release date. In the meantime, check out the trailer below, and keep checking back with Half-Glass Gaming for updates.
