EA accidentally leaked an image a while back that showed the icon for the next Sims 4 Game Pack, leading many to believe that the update would be focused around Star Wars. Those speculations turned out to be correct, as EA has now officially announced The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu.
This Game Pack brings a ton of Star Wars-related content to The Sims 4, including lightsabers, droids, and delightfully Star Wars-y cantinas. We should point out that some Star Wars content has already been in the game for a while now, but this Game Pack is taking that concept to a whole new galaxy. It also seems to add a new location, Batuu — which is the location depicted by the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge theme park — and potentially even some story content.
The fan reaction hasn’t been very positive, with many seeing this as an exploitative use of EA’s stranglehold on the Star Wars video game license. And really, Star Wars Sims does seem like a hard concept to stomach now that it’s moving beyond the simple costumes that are already a part of the game.
Of course, there are some people who do seem genuinely excited, and more power to those folks.
