13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim

If you watched any of the trailers for 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, you might have noticed that the voiceovers were in Japanese. What you might not have noticed, however, is that there was a tiny notice at the bottom of the screen.

The notice on the 13 Stories trailer, which released in June, said: “Free English VO patch available after launch.” The text on the Doomsday trailer, which was released a couple months later, said: “English VO available via day one patch.” The message is clear: The developers at Vanillaware had fully intended the game to support English-language audio.

It looks like this promise has been fulfilled, as 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim has updated to version 1.01, which adds English voiceovers.

Here are the full patch notes:

  • Added English voice over support. Audio language can be changed when starting a new game, or in the Pause Menu, in ‘Options’.
  • Made various text adjustments.

Personally, I’m going to play the game with Japanese audio and English subtitles, but if you would rather hear the English audio, that option will be available when the game launches later tonight.
