Nexomon: Extinction

With the Nexomon: Extinction 1.05 update came a new quality-of-life feature that is, quite frankly, pretty incredible. Synergy Cores are the Nexomon version of Pokémon’s EXP Share, only there are a lot of quirks uunique to Synergy Cores that make them stand apart from EXP Share.

So here’s a full guide to Synergy Cores in Nexomon: Extinction.

What do Synergy Cores do?

As I mentioned in the intro, Synergy Cores are the Nexomon: Extinction version of EXP Share. A Synergy Core will allow Nexomon to earn EXP when they’re in your party, even when they aren’t actively battling.

There are three tiers of Synergy Shard:

Synergy Shard (I) – Copies 8% of the EXP received by other team members without having to fight.

Synergy Shard (II) – Copies 16% of the EXP received by other team members without having to fight.

Synergy Shard (III) – Copies 25% of the EXP received by other team members without having to fight.

In the screenshot above, you’ll see that Cubdy earned 52 EXP from this battle, even though it sat the whole thing out. That’s 50% of the 102 EXP that the Vainok earned (each Tier III synergy Core will give you 25% of the EXP the other Nexomon earn in battle, and that Cubdy has two of them equipped for a total of 50%).

Yes, the effects stack, so a Nexomon equipped with four Tier III Synergy Cores will copy 100% of the EXP gained by other Nexomon in that battle.

Where to find Synergy Cores

Before you can use the XP-boosting qualities of Synergy Cores, you’ll need to find some. Thankfully, some early-game chests were added to Nexomon: Extinction, and you can loot those to get your Synergy Core collection started.

The first one (Tier III) is right next to the Orphanage:

The next one (Tier III) is in the cave you find in the very beginning of the game:

And the next one (Tier I) is in a field close to the cave:

There’s also one (Tier I) if you go West toward the ferry that takes you to Palmaya:

Beyond that, you’ll have to craft them yourself.

How to craft Synergy Cores

Nexomon: Extinction - Synthesis Center

You can make your own Synergy Cores, but they take quite a few shards. To craft cores, you’ll want to visit the Synthesis Center in Parum City. Simply warp to Parum City and head left from the Warpstone until you enter the next area. Cross the bridge, then head straight north and you’ll see a large building behind a fountain (shown above). That’s the Synthesis Center.

Go inside the Synthesis Center, then walk to the back room, where Bonnie is standing. Talk to Bonnie and she will let you craft cores of any type so long as you have the required ingredients. You will need shards of every variety to craft Synergy Cores.

How to use Synergy Cores

Now that you’ve got a stockpile of Synergy Cores, you’re ready to equip them and start earning EXP.

Using a Synergy Core is easy: equip the core on a Nexomon, just like you would any other core. Simply open the menu, select Team, and choose the Nexomon you want to equip the Cores to. You’ll see the Cores section of the menu beneath the Nexomon’s portrait.

Nexomon: Extinction

The Nexomon you equip the core to is the one who will receive the EXP, so put it on a Nexomon who won’t be seeing much combat.

Now here’s the really exciting part: If the Nexomon who is fighting has Experience Cores equipped, a percentage of that EXP bonus will be passed to any Nexomon using Synergy Cores.

So, let’s say my fighting Nexomon completes a fight worth 100 EXP, only it has a Tier I Experience Core and a Tier II Experience Core equipped (for a 20% total EXP bonus). This Nexomon will instead get 120 EXP (100 + 7 for the Tier I Core and +13 for the Tier II Core).

Now, a Nexomon with two Tier III Synergy Cores equipped (for a 50% EXP share) will get 60 EXP instead of just 50 from the base 100. So with a Synergy Core, you’re earning a percentage of the total earned EXP, not just a percentage of the base EXP. Make sense?

And that’s really all there is to it. Have fun with your Synergy cores, and go grind some levels!
