Everafter Falls

Everafter Falls is an upcoming farming game in the vein of Stardew Valley, only with a Matrix-style twist. Apparently, your character wakes up from their simulated life to find themselves in an adorable world of crafting and farming. There’s also a bit of an Animal Crossing element to the game, as the villagers seem to be mostly animals (based on the footage I’ve seen so far). As a huge fan of farming and crafting games, this looks like something I could sink hundreds of hours into.

If you are on the Everafter Falls mailing list, you should have found some additional details about the game in your inbox today. SquareHusky, the game’s developer, revealed some of the interior decorating items they’ve been working on.

I’m particularly impressed with the sheer amount of options you will have when decorating your home. In most games like this, there are preset looks to bookshelves and things. In Everafter Falls, you can arrange your shelves in a number of ways.

Some of the game’s more technical details have been made public by SquareHusky on Twitter as well. These will whet the appetite of anyone interested in the ins and outs of game development.

Everafter Falls has been in development for about two and a half years so far, and it’s being built in TopDown Engine. Apparently, this game engine choice might have saved six months of development time, which I’d say is a win for everyone (less work for SquareHusky, less wait time for eager fans). Additionally, dialogue is being handled in Yarn Spinner, with Text Animator for Unity handling text animations.

There’s no solid release date yet, but Everafter Falls is projected to be out sometime in 2021 or 2022 for PC and Nintendo Switch. If you want to stay up to date on the game’s development, head over to the official Everafter Falls website and add yourself to their mailing list. You can also follow SquareHusky on Twitter.
