Hades

Supergiant Games has a long history of making breathtakingly gorgeous games with style and punch. They also don’t get lauded enough for how brilliant their sound design consistently is. For reference, Supergiant is the studio behind Bastion, Transistor, and Pyre.

They’ve also been working on a roguelike dungeon crawler called Hades.

In a surprise announcement, Hades 1.0 has released (it’s been in Early Access for some time now), and it’s available on Nintendo Switch today. It’s also available for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Honestly, I hadn’t been paying attention to Hades before today. I’d been neck-deep in massive titles like Red Dead Online, Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning, and Nexomon: Extinction. But, after the announcement at today’s Nintendo Direct, I might have to drop everything else and pick up Hades. It looks absolutely stunning, and it’s worth picking up for its pedigree alone (it’s also getting very good reviews).

On the Nintendo eShop, Hades has a MSRP of $24.99, but it’s on sale right now for $19.99.
