THPS - Secret Tape - Downtown Minneapolis

As someone who used to live in Downtown Minneapolis (and doesn’t live all that far from there now), I appreciate that the Tony Hawk’s franchise tried to represent my city. However, I do wish they would have put a little more effort into making it look like it actually took place in Downtown Minneapolis. I can spot a couple just-barely-passable representations of some familiar landmarks, but only if I shut my eyes completely and just use my imagination instead.

But I digress…

In Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2, there’s a secret tape in Downtown Minneapolis, and I’m going to help you find it. This one doesn’t take as much skill or preparation as School II, but it does take some navigational skill to find it.

When you start the stage, immediately turn 180 degrees. You’ll be facing a dead end with an Underground Parking sign, but there are two ramps that will let you jump up to the street. As soon as you hit the street, turn left, but make sure you watch out for taxis; they’re quite aggressive.

From there, head forward until you see a ramp going into a tunnel with a long series of rails.

Follow the rails through the tunnel, then go through the skyway (yes, we have skyways in Minneapolis), and you’ll end up on the roof. You should see a wooden structure filled with ramps. Go inside that, then hit the ramp that has an arrow on it. If you hit that at the right angle, it should propel you toward the tape.

If you’re more of a visual person than a reader, that’s cool too. Check out the video below to see the location of the Secret Tape in Downtown Minneapolis in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2.
