Cyberpunk 2077

Earlier this month, Nvidia showcased a trailer of Cyberpunk 2077 running on their new RTX series graphics card. In doing so, they somehow managed to make an already eye-watering game practically torrential.

I’ve stated my opinion in the past that graphical prowess doth not a good game maketh. And I stand by that still. That being said, I am also an unabashed fan of eye candy. So when I saw this trailer, well, I couldn’t help but eat it up.

And look, I’m not a tech-savvy fellow. I get the general idea behind what I’m seeing, at least to the extent that I recognize the difference that ray tracing makes once it’s pointed out to me. But I’m not going to try to regurgitate any tech stats or specs or, heck, even rice chex.

Needless to say, if you watch this trailer I’m sure that, like me, the graphical heavy lifting on display here will not be lost on you. The puddle reflections! The glowing warmth of ambient lighting! This is the real deal, Ally McBeal.

Unfortunately for me, my soon-to-exist gaming PC won’t have a graphics card nearly as cherry as anything in the new RTX series. But that doesn’t mean I can’t bask in the glow of this shiny, shiny trailer. In the meantime, I still need to get my pre-order in, and then it’s all just a waiting game.
