I wrote a piece not too long ago about Harry in Outbreak: The New Nightmare. Long story short, I chose him as a playable character because of his additional inventory space, but I started having problems with his inability to wear a belt. I’m sure he’s a fine dude; I’m just not a fan of his anti-belt habits.

So I picked Elena next. She’s sort of a cat-burglar-type character who wears a ski mask and dark clothing. I figured that this was a good way to sort of wash all that beltlessness out of my mind. Surely a character with a ski mask will be less willing to show skin, right? Well, I was wrong. This is Elena’s character model:

I don’t even know what’s going on here. It’s like they designed a nude character model, then added clothing on top of that, but the clothing keeps clipping through the nude model so you constantly have patches of bare skin showing through. In motion, this looks especially strange, as these patches of skin sort of move around her legs and arms.

Since there are no changeable outfits or anything like that, I’m not sure why developer Dead Drop Studios wouldn’t have just textured the character model in her default outfit rather than pasting clothing onto a nude model. Or perhaps something else is going on here that I’m not aware of?

Either way, it’s very hard to survive a zombie apocalypse when you’re distracted by magically shape-shifting clothing, so I guess I’m crossing Elena off my list as well.

Hank seems kind of alright, so let’s see how that goes.

Those dead eyes of his kind of weird me out, and he’s struggling to figure out how to hold a gun, but so far there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with his outfit. That seems like a win to me.
