Marvel's Spider-Man

Courtesy the official Playstation Blog, we’ve learned some new details about the remastered version of 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man, which will be included in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales: Ultimate Edition. Yes, there’s a double-colon in the title…

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered will have what Sony is calling a “painstaking” visual overhaul. This includes improved asset models and materials, as well as the much-lauded ray tracing in the reflections and ambient shadows.

Most noticeably, this remastered version will include a new character model based on a the face and characteristics of actor Ben Jordan. In the 2018 version of the game, Peter Parker was originally brought to life in the likeness of actor John Bubniak. Sony stated this is a needed change to bring the character’s look more in line with the facial capture from actor Yuri Lowenthal.

I personally wasn’t a huge fan of the old facial model. I always felt like John Bubniak’s portrayal was a deliberate knockoff of Tobey Maguire. But, to be honest, Ben Jordan’s portrayal just looks like a knockoff of Tom Holland.

It just makes me wonder if Sony wanted Mr. Holland but ultimately decided that Mr. Jordan was better for their budget.

Either way, you can check out the Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered trailer below.
