13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is an incredible game. On top of having one of this year’s best video-game stories, it also has an incredibly high Platinum Trophy completion percentage — almost 30% at the time of this writing. One reason for that, of course, is that once you start playing, you really need to find out how this thing ends. The other reason, however, is that the Platinum Trophy is actually really easy to get.

When I popped the Plat in 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, my playtime was just under 48 hours. Keep in mind that I was writing guides while playing, so my completion time is considerably longer than average. I think you could probably cut about 1/3 of that time to account for guide-writing.

So here’s a brief roadmap to getting the Platinum Trophy in 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim.

In Remembrance, there are 13 characters. For each character, you get a Trophy each time you complete the prologue, reach 50% completion, and reach 100% completion. On top of that, you get another Trophy for completing all of them (despite the fact that Renya Gouta’s finale will always be last). So, for simply completing Remembrance, you will earn 40 Trophies.

In Destruction, you’ll earn a Trophy for completing the tutorial, and then a Trophy for completing Area 1, Area 2, and Area 3. You will also get a Trophy for completing the final battle. That’s five Destruction Trophies, bringing the total to 45.

In Analysis, there are four Trophies for hitting various milestones in your Mystery Log file collection. You could probably consider these four Trophies to be optional if all you want to do is finish the game’s story, though I imagine you’ll hit at least the first one (and maybe even the second one) no matter what.

On top of that, you will earn Mission Accomplished for completing all objectives in Destruction, and Supreme Defender for earning S-Rank in 30 Destruction missions. You will have to do both of those things to get the Mystery Files you need to earn 100% in Analysis.

If you’re not sure if you’ve completed the Bonus Objectives in a stage, just look at the mission select screen. Any stage that you’ve completed the objectives in will have a star next to the completion rank.

In the image above, I’ve not yet completed the objectives in Wave 0009, so there’s no star next to the S-Rank. You can do the objectives on any difficulty and they will be marked off no matter which difficulty you select. That’s why, in the image above, I have stars marked on missions that don’t have completion ranks (I completed those on a higher difficulty).

I’ve created a full guide to getting all of the Mystery Files, in case you need it.

So if you decide to get 100% in Remembrance, Destruction, and Analysis, you’re up to 51 Trophies.

Beyond that, there are a few Trophies that you will actually have to focus on to earn, but none of them is all that difficult. Here’s a list:

Master of the Meal – You can miss this Trophy on your first pass, but even if you do, it’s easy to go back for. Here’s a guide to the Master of the Meal Trophy.

The Thinker – You’ll earn this by considering Thought Cloud Keywords 100 times. I think it’s very, very unlikely that you’d miss this in a normal playthrough.

Fully-Armed Meta-System – This one requires you to make a bunch of upgrades to your Sentinels and Meta-System. This is the rarest of the non-Platinum Trophies in the game. If you’re struggling with this one, I’ve created a guide.

In One Fell Swoop – You earn this one by defeating 150 enemies in a single attack. It’s actually really easy, but I’ve created a guide in case anyone is struggling with it.

As long as you score 100% completion in all three modes, you’ll be pretty close to the end of your Platinum Trophy hunt. None of the Trophies beyond that is too much work, though Fully-Armed Meta-System might take a good amount of time if you don’t take advantage of your Meta-Chips multiplier right away (you can see my full guide for more on that).

And that’s how you earn the Platinum Trophy in 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim.
