Just like the previous game, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity features several playable characters to unlock. You’ll be unlocking characters throughout the whole journey, and some will even be unlocked during post-game.
Here’s a complete list of every playable character in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.
Link – Playable at the start of the game
Impa – Unlocked during The Battle of Hyrule Field tutorial mission in Chapter 1.
Zelda – Unlocked during the Road to the Ancient Lab mission (Breach of Demise) in Chapter 1.
Daruk – Unlocked during the Daruk, the Goron Hero, mission (Death Mountain) in Chapter 2.
Mipha – Unlocked during the Mipha, the Zora Princess, mission (Zora Domain) in Chapter 2.
Urbosa – Unlocked during the Urbosa, the Gerudo Chief, mission (Gerudo Town) in Chapter 2.
Revali – Unlocked during the Revali, the Rito Warrior, mission (Tabantha Frontier) in Chapter 2.
Hestu – Unlocked during the Freeing Korok Forest mission (Great Hyrule Forest) in Chapter 3.
Great Fairies – Unlocking the Great Fairies is a bit complicated.
- First, complete the Akkala Tower mission in Chapter 4.
- The Offering Help on the Road side mission will appear in Gerudo Desert, which asks you to donate 4,500 rupees.
- Donate the Rupees to unlock three Fairy Fountain challenges:
- Fairy Fountain: Grassy Plains
- Fairy Fountain: Desert Sands
- Fairy Fountain: Deep Snows
- Complete all three to unlock the Fairy Fountain: Battlefield challenge.
- Complete the Fairy Fountain: Battlefield challenge to unlock the Great Fairies.
Monk Maz Koshia – Like the Great Fairies, this one takes a little work.
- First, complete the Destroy the Yiga Clan! mission in Chapter 4.
- Three new challenges will appear.
- The Trial of Monsters will appear in Gerudo Desert. It requires:
- 5 Ethereal Stone
- 350 Bokoblin Trophy
- 100 Lizalfos Trophy
- 3 Wizzrobe Trophy
- 20 Moblin Trophy
- The Trial of Stones will appear near Lurelin Village.It requires:
- 7 Ethereal Stone
- 10 Amber
- 5 Topaz
- 5 Ruby
- 2 Diamond
- The Trial of the Mighty Foe will appear south of Damel Forest. It requires:
- 10 Ethereal Stone
- 1 Stone Talus Trophy
- 3 Hinox Trophy
- 3 Lynel Trophy
- Complete all three of these trials to unlock Trial of the Ancients (this is a Level 38 side mission in which you must fight Monk Maz Koshia).
- Complete the Trial of the Ancients to unlock Monk Maz Koshia.
Teba – Unlocked during the Air and Lightning mission (Hyrule Ridge) in Chapter 5.
Riju – Unlocked during the Air and Lightning mission (Hyrule Ridge) in Chapter 5.
Yunobo – Unlocked during the Water and Fire mission (Lanayru Wetlands) in Chapter 5.
Sidon – Unlocked during the Water and Fire mission (Lanayru Wetlands) in Chapter 5.
Master Kohga – Unlocked During the Each Step Like Thunder mission in Chapter 6.
King Rhoam – Unlocked during the mission All Hyrule United in Chapter 7.
Terrako – Complete the post-game Terrako quests and collect 50 Terrako components.
Calamity Ganon – Unlocked during the Versus Ganon mission in post-game.
You can also play as the Divine Beasts in various parts of the game.
Divine Beast Vah Ruta – Playable during the Mipha, the Zora Princess, mission (Zora Domain) in Chapter 2, and the Might of a Divine Beast side mission starting in Chapter 3.
Divine Beast Vah Rudania – Playable during the Daruk, the Goron Hero, mission (Death Mountain) in Chapter 2, and the Volcanic Defense side mission starting in Chapter 3. Also playable during the Water and Fire mission (Lanayru Wetlands) in Chapter 5.
Divine Beast Vah Medoh – Playable during the Freeing Korok Forest mission (Great Hyrule Forest) in Chapter 3, and the Protector of the Forest side mission starting in Chapter 4. Also playable during the Air and Lightning mission (Hyrule Ridge) in Chapter 5.
Divine Beast Vah Naboris – Playable during the Destroy the Yiga Clan! mission in Chapter 4, and the Pursue the Yiga Clan! side mission (which is available once you complete Destroy the Yiga Clan!).
