Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales

It’s hard to believe that the PS5 just came out this week, yet my PS4 is already chugging along like a machine from yesteryear. Or so I thought.

I’m playing Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales on PS4 instead of PS5, and I started thinking I was having framerate issues. Mostly everything seems to be moving normally, but Miles himself has these twitchy, jittery movements that make it look like he’s rendered in some low-framerate animated TV show.

If you don’t believe me, here’s a video I took of Miles swinging around:

Now, the reason for this is that I had unlocked the Into the Spider-Verse suit as a preorder bonus. but in this video, I’m not using that particular suit, right? Well, the Into the Spider-Verse suit also comes with a suit mod called Vibe the Verse. What happened is that I had equipped the Spider-Verse suit, which auto-equipped the Vibe the Verse suit mod. When I switched back to the Sportswear suit, the mod stayed equipped. (By the way, here’s a guide to all of the game’s suits, in case you’re interested.)

I’m enjoying Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales for the most part (even the snow!), but there was a good chunk of time there where I was getting pretty disappointed by what I perceived as the game’s PS4 performance issues.

The good news is that Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales runs smooth as butter on PS4 so long as you aren’t using Vibe the Verse.
