Super Meat Boy Forever, the follow-up to the infamous Super Meat Boy, is now available on PC (via Epic Games Store) and Nintendo Switch. The PS4 and Xbox One versions (as well as the Steam version) are due out in January.
It’s maybe not entirely fair to call this an endless runner game, but it does sport the auto-run feature found in such games. Meat Boy and his playable sweetheart Bandage Girl have a new move that lets them punch enemies and walls. This gives players a combat option that wasn’t present in the original.
I probably don’t have to say any of this. If you’re a fan of the original game, you know all this, and you’re probably happily playing through your brand-new copy of Super Meat Boy Forever already.
However, if you’ve never played Super Meat Boy, you should know that it’s one of the best platformers of all time. It’s very difficult, but immensely satisfying in ways that very few tough-as-nails platformers are able to manage. It’s a masterpiece of platforming in the vein of Super Mario Bros. 3, and I think it stands proudly next to SMB3 as one of the all-time greats.
