Coral Island

We spotted Coral Island not long ago, and as enthusiasts for Harvest Moon-style farm sims, it really caught our eye. Coral Island, by Stairway Games, has all the trappings of the genre — growing crops, raising cattle, and romancing villagers — with an added twist: You can also work to save coral reefs.

It’s an interesting premise that pairs farm life with an eco-friendly message. While farming and saving coral reefs might not seem like they have anything to do with each other, Coral Island brings those two things together in a way that makes sense. In fact, it brings to mind the diving feature in Animal Crossing.

The game sports an adorable art style that reminds us just a little bit of the Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening remake. And the character portraits are really incredible. It’s definitely going to be hard to choose a partner, because they’re all so cute!

Coral Island

Today, Coral Island launched a Kickstarter to fund the game’s continued development. Stairway Games is asking for $70,000, and they’ve managed to raise more than half of that on the first day. That’s definitely a good sign that Coral Island‘s Kickstarter campaign is going to be a huge success.

The game is currently planned to release on Steam, with additional consoles as potential stretch goals.

If you want to know more about the game, head over to the Kickstarter page or watch the (pretty robust) announcement trailer below.
