Shortly after I started playing The Sims 4: Paranormal Stuff Pack, I decided that I wanted to return Guidry, your ghostly guide to haunted house lots, to the realm of the living. Guidry died young in a freak accident, and it seemed like he’d never had a fair shot at life. Unfortunately, I couldn’t seem to figure out how to bring Guidry back to life.

I started out with my preferred method of resurrecting departed Sims. I had Guidry make a sizable donation to the Wishing Well from Romantic Garden Stuff, and after that, I threw in a coin and asked to be brought back to life. The well said that it would grant my wish, but nothing about Guidry changed. He was still as ghostly as ever.

A few more experiments confirmed that the incident with the well wasn’t a fluke. Guidry couldn’t be brought back with the Dedeathify spell from Realm of Magic. Ambrosia didn’t seem to have any effect on him. No matter what I did to Guidry, he stayed good and dead.

A little research confirmed that Guidry wasn’t an ordinary ghost. In fact, he isn’t really a ghost at all. Both Guidry and Temperance are special NPCs with unique traits that make them look ghostly. If you want to make them human again, your only option is to mod your game.

I managed to make Guidry human again with the aid of a script mod called MC Command Center. With this mod, it’s possible to click on Guidry and remove his special trait. Look for the “Guidry” trait, remove it, and Guidry will instantly be a living human again. The same process also works for Temperance — just delete the “Temperance” trait.

It’s worth mentioning that deleting this trait means that your Sims file will no longer recognize your Guidry as Guidry. Your newly living Guidry will keep his name and snazzy clothes, but The Sims 4 will generate a brand-new ghostly Guidry when night falls. He’ll have no memory of you, and he won’t recognize the living version of himself. The two of them can even talk to each other.

If having two Guidrys is too immersion-breaking for you, the best way to avoid this problem is to switch your haunted house lot back to a residential lot after bringing Guidry back to life. As long as you’re not playing in a haunted house, the game won’t spawn in a new Guidry.

If you play on console, or if you’d prefer not to use script mods in your game, there’s another simple way for you to gain access to a living Guidry. Open up the gallery, search for “Guidry,” and sort by “Popular Now.” From there, you can download the living Guidry from players that have uploaded him to the gallery.

Figuring out how to bring Guidry back to life can be a little frustrating, but as long as you’re willing to mod your game or use the gallery, you can resurrect Guidry in your Sims file. As mentioned above, all these suggestions can be used to bring Temperance back to life as well. Since Guidry and Temperance have a romantic history, you might even want to get them back together once they’re alive again.

If you want to stay in a haunted house, you can buy the Helping Hand and turn off Guidry’s visits. This way you don’t have two of them and still get the benefits of living in a haunted house.
