Before now, The Sims 4 add-ons came in three varieties: Expansion Packs (the really meaty updates), Game Packs (medium-sized updates), and Stuff Packs (smaller updates that are focused around, well, stuff). Today, a new type of content expansion has been released, Kits.
The concept of Kits was leaked a little while back, but they’re now official, and available to purchase.
Kits are basically micro collections of extras organized around a theme. Three Kits released today: Throwback Fit Kit, Country Kitchen Kit, and Bust the Dust Kit. Each one costs about five bucks, and they don’t seem to be sold in a bundle of any sort quite yet (perhaps there will be a mega-bundle at some point after more Kits release).
Let’s take a quick look at each of the three new Kits.
The Sims 4: Throwback Fit Kit
Throwback fit is a set of CAS (Create-A-Sim) items that are retro and workout-friendly in style. The flavor text on EA’s website states:
Take it back to nostalgic colors, bold patterns, and trend-forward silhouettes with these all-new Create-a-Sim items to elevate your Sims’ fashion.
The Sims 4: Country Kitchen Kit
The Country Kitchen Kit focuses on furniture and appliances for your kitchen. Your kitchen possibilities have been expanded! The flavor text on EA’s website states:
From vintage refrigerators to casserole dishes, these Build/Buy objects offer a delightfully trendy take on a timeless style. The kitchen is the heart of the home for a reason!
The Sims 4: Bust the Dust Kit
Bust the Dust is a little different. Instead of adding items to the game, it adds gameplay features, including buffs and aspirations related to cleanliness. The flavor text on EA’s website states:
Got dust? Yes, you do! Conquer chores with new buffs and rewards, vacuums to help fight the good fight, and aspirations related to cleanliness—or befriend your dust bunnies.
