It’s a good time to be a fan of the Doom games. Not only are the modern games in the franchise doing extremely well for themselves, but the classics have been getting a little love too. You might be aware that Doom 64 got a modern physical release not long ago, and now there are three more games coming to your Switch or PS4 in their physical old-school gory… err, glory. Yes, Doom: The Classics Collection is getting a physical release thanks to Limited Run Games.
The timing on this announcement is superb, as I got my Switch copy of Doom 64 in the mail just this week. Now I guess I’ll have a few more to wait on.
Anyway, this amazing collection contains three classic Doom titles on one disc or cartridge. No downloads required. Here’s what you get in Doom: The Classics Collection:
- Doom (the original game from 1993)
- Doom II: Hell on Earth (1994)
- Doom 3 (2004)
Yes, there’s a ten-year gap between Doom II and Doom 3, which longtime fans know was filled by Doom 64 in 1997.
If you want to go with the standard version, you’ll be plunking down a cool $39.99. However, if you really want to go hog wild, you can pony up for the Special Edition for $79.99 or the Collector’s Edition for $129.99.
