Biomutant

In any open-world game with a day-and-night cycle, there comes the inevitable moment where you want it to be daytime when it’s dark out, or when you want it to be nighttime when the sun is high in the sky. Thankfully, most day/night games give you a way to wait and pass time. Biomutant is no exception, though it’s not immediately obvious how you actually make it happen.

But you can rest easy (both literally and figuratively), because I’ve created this quick guide to passing time in Biomutant.

All you have to do to pass the time is find a campfire, and those are all over the place. You can find them indoors in most villages:

And outside outposts:

Note that these tend to be down the road just a little way away from the outpost. Outposts typically have little checkpoints, with an arch and a watchtower, and those will usually have a campfire to rest at as well.

You can even find campfires in bandit camps:

Note that you’ll need to take care of the bandits before cozying up to their campfire.

Now, there are a few things to know about these. First off, campfires will be flaming at night, but during the day, they won’t be. This makes them a little harder to see during the day.

When you approach a campfire (whether it’s day or night), you can simply press the interact button (triangle on PS4) to rest at it. Once you do, you’ll be given a few options:

  • No need to rest now
  • Rest until Daybreak
  • Rest until Nightfall

Obviously, “No need to rest now” will take you back out of the menu, while the other two will progress time to Daybreak or Nightfall respectively.

Also, resting at a campfire will refill your heath and Ki, as well as the Automaton Health Injector.

I should point out here that there are certain story events that pass time as well, and opening a Wrekbox will also progress time. Fast travelling will bump the clock forward as well. Even so, the most reliable way to move from day to night will always be resting at a campfire.

And that’s pretty much everything you’ll ever need to know about resting at campfires to pass time in Biomutant!
