Biomutant is almost here, and a lot of folks are still scratching their heads over what exactly this game even is. It features mutated raccoon/cat/fox things, and that’s sort of Biomutant‘s defining feature aesthetically, but how does the game play? What will you be doing once you’ve set foot in this post-apocalyptic game world?

Experiment 101 (the developer) and THQ Nordic (the publisher) have pulled back the curtain a little bit with a six-minute explainer trailer (which I’ve posted at the bottom of this article). In the trailer, you’ll learn about the general storyline, you’ll be introduced to the Light/Dark Aura (Karma) system, and you’ll get a fairly in-depth breakdown of the mutation side of combat (which features the more physical biomutations, and the psychic-style psi-mutations). You’ll also see just a little teensy-tiny taste of what the crafting system is all about.

There’s a lot to see and do in the game, and this trailer shows off just a little bit of that. But hopefully this should give the gaming community a little bit of insight into what Biomutant is actually like.

Biomutant will be out for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on May 25, 2021. In the meantime, you can check out the explainer trailer below.
