To put it lightly, Cyberpunk 2077‘s launch didn’t exactly go as planned. The game released in such a sorry state that it was ultimately pulled from the PlayStation Store, and a special refund policy had to be created specifically for the game.
Ever since then, CD Projekt Red has been working to improve the game incrementally. Half-Glass Gaming’s Julian checked it out back in May and still wasn’t impressed, but Patch 1.23 released just a few days ago, which rolled out another slew of bug fixes.
With the latest patch, it seems some measure of faith has been restored in the project, as Cyberpunk 2077 has returned to the PlayStation Store.
On top of that, CD Projekt Red confirmed that PS4 owners get free access to the PS5 version of the game, and an official PS5 version of the game should be out by the end of this year.
According to a press release from CD Projekt Red:
In addition to the game being available on PlayStation 4, anyone who purchases the game can also play it on PlayStation 5 via backward compatibility. Furthermore, a free PlayStation 5 upgrade for the game will be coming in the second half of 2021 — and will be available for all owners of the PlayStation 4 version of Cyberpunk 2077, including both digital and disc. The upgrade will allow the title to take full advantage of the new console’s more powerful hardware.

Well I advise caution in getting one’s hopes up about a No Man’s Sky-style redemption arc, I do hope this is a sign that Cyberpunk 2077 is well on its way to recovery.
