To the Rescue

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to work at a dog shelter? To the Rescue from Little Rock Games is a sim that’ll put you in charge of a dog shelter, as well as countless doggos!

The game has a simple, colorful charm to it, though the gameplay itself looks like it could be quite deep. You’ll tend to multiple dogs’ needs, feeding them, grooming them, and cleaning up after them. And yes, in this game, it’s pretty much a guarantee that you’ll get to pet the dog!

Just like in real life, though, having pups be a part of your daily life isn’t all fun and games. In To the Rescue, there’s a time for play and a time to get serious. You’ll help sick or overweight dogs, hire employees to keep the shelter running smoothly, and ultimately find forever homes for the dogs. Other tasks include buying upgrades, improving your shelter, and participating in adopt-a-thons, which you set up using the in-game social network, Barkbook.

To the Rescue

It’s been a while since I got super into a sim, but To the Rescue will very likely be the next one I dive into. Partially because it looks really fun, but also because I love all the dog things!

I have a rescue beagle of my own, so I’ve sometimes wondered what it would be like to work at a dog shelter — to care for and find homes for different pooches. Just short of that, I was a dog-walker and dogsitter for about a year and a half, which was pretty cool. Now, though, I’ll get to run a virtual dog shelter in To the Rescue, which looks like it’ll be a lot of fun.

If the sound of running a video game dog shelter sounds appealing to you, watch out for To the Rescue. The game is due out on Nintendo Switch in Q3 2021 and Steam in Q1 2022. You can check out the game’s feature trailer below.
