People who want to criticize video games for being too violent sometimes resort to the term “murder simulator.” It’s a hackle-raising phrase that gets people talking, but it’s usually just hyperbole designed to get a reaction from the panic-inclined non-gaming community.
When it comes to Overboard!, though, the term might actually be appropriate.
Overboard! is basically a puzzle game that has you try to get away with murder aboard a cruise ship. Honestly, it sounds a little bit like a tongue-in-cheek, cartoony version of Hitman, which means I am all about it.
If you want to get your totally-guilty hands on the game, you’re in luck, you little scoundrel. Overboard! had a surprise launch today on the Nintendo Switch eShop. It’s also on sale right now to celebrate its launch, so if you act fast, you can get it for the discount price of $12.74 (instead of the retail price of $14.99).
Here’s a feature list, straight from the eShop listing:
- Next-gen visual novel: go where you want, when you want, and say what you want
- Simulated story-world: other characters move and act independently, remember everything they see and hear, and everything you do
- Every minute counts: you have eight hours to escape justice. Time is always ticking!
- Who can you trust? Some characters are friendly, and some are out to get you. Who will you befriend? Who will you betray?
