Disgaea 6 - Zed

Once you complete the main story in Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny, the real game begins. Additional challenges unlock, you have the opportunity to raise your level cap, and there are even some new characters to add to your party.

There’s a lot to do here, but a lot of it is gated behind other content, so I’m going to lay out a simple roadmap for Disgaea 6‘s postgame content. Let’s grind!

DLC Characters

Disgaea 6 - Free DLC Characters

You can unlock the DLC characters in the main game (once you’ve purchased them), but some people like to save them for postgame, so I’ll mention them briefly. I do have a full breakdown of Disgaea 6’s DLC, so you can check that out if you’re looking for a complete list.

Remember, to unlock a DLC character, you must first activate them in the DLC Shop, then you can go to their world and complete their stage to add the character to your roster (this isn’t true for the Hololive Collaboration Set — these characters are just unlocked straightaway).

New Quests

Disgaea 6 - Quest Board

When you complete the final episode of the main story, you should unlock some new quests that let you earn Omega scrolls. I assume you’ll have Omega-level spells by this point in the game, but if not, now you can teach them to any character in your party via the scrolls you earn here.

Here’s a list:

Tips on Fire

  • Kill 5 Witches (level 8,000 or higher)
  • Reward: Omega Fire scroll

Tips on Wind

  • Kill any target (level 8,000 or higher)
  • Reward: Omega Wind scroll

Tips on Water

  • Turn in 20 Orbs
  • Reward: Omega Ice scroll

Tips on Star

  • Turn in any 20 Legendary items
  • Reward: Omega Star scroll

Martial Dimension

Disgaea 6 - Martial Dimension

You’ll actually unlock the Martial Dimension during the main story, but you’ll only have access to the first trial. Upon beating the game, you’ll get access to more of them. Once you’ve met the prerequisites, you must visit the Dark Assembly and pass a bill as the final step to unlocking any trial, but here’s a list of the prerequisites:

  • First Trial – Available about midway through the campaign. At 0-star difficulty, enemies here are at level 3,000.
  • Second Trial – Available after you complete the main story for the first time. At 0-star difficulty, enemies here are at level 9,999.
  • Third Trial – Available once you pass the “Challenge the Carnage Dimension!” bill in the Dark Assembly. At 0-star difficulty, enemies here are at level 50,000.
  • Fourth Trial – Available once you complete the Third Trial. At 0-star difficulty, enemies here are at level 1,000,000.
  • Fifth Trial – Available once you pass the “Challenge the Rakshasa Dimension!” bill in the Dark Assembly. At 0-star difficulty, enemies here are at level 30,000,000.
  • Final Trial – Available once you complete the Fifth Trial. At 0-star difficulty, enemies here are at level 66,660,000

Accept an Overlord’s Challenge

Disgaea 6 - Overlord Laharl

Upon completion of the main story, you’ll have access to a new bill in the Dark Assembly called “Accept an Overlord’s Challenge.” It costs 50,000 Mana to vote on this. You might have to bribe some Assembly members, pay up, or defeat in combat, because the pass rate is only 40% otherwise.

This unlocks the Battlegrounds world. You’ll complete the following maps:

  • Shozuka Plains
  • Ancient Town
  • Hill Fortress
  • Harvana
  • Ancient Town II
  • Hill Fortress II
  • Harvana II
  • Shozuka Plains II

Keep in mind that unlike the main story maps, you can’t go back and replay these once you’ve completed them. When you’ve completed all eight stages, you unlock:

  • Laharl, Etna, and Flonne as party members
  • The option to pass the “Challenge the Carnage Dimension!” bill in the Dark Assembly
  • The option to pass the “Challenge the Super Overlord!” bill in the Dark Assembly
  • The Time Travel Shop

The Time Travel Shop

Disgaea 6 - Time Travel

This simply lets you reset the game and go back to the beginning of the story. You will keep all of your progress, including character unlocks, levels, reincarnations, D-merits, items, etc. The only thing you’ll reset is your story progress.

To activate this, talk to the Lucky Board that has now appeared next to the Quest Shop.

Challenge the Super Overlord

Disgaea 6 - Baal

It costs 10,000 Mana to call for this vote, and your success rate is only 29%. You might have to bribe some Senators (or beat them all up) if you want this to pass.

Once you pass the bill, you will unlock a new world called Transcender’s Dim. This contains the Edge of Reincarnation map, on which you’ll fight Super Overlord Baal.

Now, some advice here: At level 9,999, Ball is going to wipe your party in a single hit. You’ll need to grow stronger if you’re going to even put a dent in him. So that means…

Challenge the Carnage Dimension

Disgaea 6 - Carnage I

This bill costs 250,000 Mana and it has a 19% chance of passing (less if you recently beat up some Senators). You might want to have some bribes set aside for this one…

Once you pass the bill:

  • Carnage Dimension will be available from the Dimension Guide
  • Every story map will now have the Carnage difficulty option (you can toggle the difficulty by pressing L or R in the map selection menu)
  • Cheat Shop CP increases by 500
  • Another trial in the Martial Dimension will unlock
  • [Lv Limit Break 1] will be available through Super Reincarnation
  • [Stat Limit Break 1] will be available through Super Reincarnation

How to Increase Your Stats

Disgaea 6 - Lv Limit Break 1

The last two items listed above ([Lv Limit Break 1] and [Stat Limit Break 1]) increase your level cap and your base stat cap respectively, but you must Super Reincarnate first. When you Super Reincarnate, you have two options for increasing your stats, Unlock Capability and Unlock Ability. You can toggle between the two with L and R. Now, make sure the Lv Limit Break 1 enhancement has a green check mark next to it (you can toggle this with the Y button). If you want to raise base stats, make sure the Capability Limit – Carnage option is checked.

The level cap increase costs 20,000 Karma, and the base stat cap increase cots 100,000 Karma, so you might have to farm some Karma to make these purchases. I would definitely go for the level cap increase first, because you earn so much more Karma by reincarnating at higher levels.

  • The new level cap is 9,999,999.
  • The base stat cap increases from 255 to 500.

Carnage Difficulty and the Carnage Dimension

Once you’ve unlocked Carnage, you can adjust the difficulty between Normal and Carnage when you’re in the map select menu (at the Dimension Guide). This can be done for any of the main story maps by simply pressing L or R while a map name is highlighted in the menu.

Disgaea 6 - Carnage Difficulty

While you’ve now unlocked the Carnage Dimension, you probably don’t want to attempt the new maps right away. The difficulty here is scaled to Carnage, meaning your enemies are going to start out at level 300,000 (which is 30x the original level cap). You’re going to want to grind old story maps for a bit (while ramping up the enemy strength), and then attempt those maps on Carnage difficulty to see how fast those levels start piling up.

This also might be a good time to grind the Item World. You can also go into Item World for Carnage items (which will be colored red in your inventory), but those are going to be absolutely brutal.

The Carnage Dimension features five maps, and they scale in difficulty extremely fast.

  • Carnage I – With a 0-star difficulty level, enemies are at level 300,000.
  • Carnage II – With a 0-star difficulty level, enemies are at level 500,000.
  • Carnage III – With a 0-star difficulty level, enemies are at level 1,000,000.
  • Carnage IV – With a 0-star difficulty level, enemies are at level 2,500,000.
  • Carnage V – With a 0-star difficulty level, enemies are at level 5,000,000.

Challenge the Super Overlord when he’s serious!

Disgaea 6 - Baal

Once you beat Carnage V, a bill will be available in the assembly called “Challenge the Super Overlord when he’s serious!” It costs 1,000,000 mana to call a vote, and your success rate is an abysmal 1%.

You should actually be able to pass this one via sheer brute force. I assume if you beat Carnage V, your characters should be able to handle most of the senators. I think there’s some randomization to which senators you’ll get, but the highest-level senator in my voting session was about 4.9 million, and it was a prinny (so I was able to toss him and blow him up).

Passing this bill adds another stage to the Transcender’s Dim called Edge of Reincarnation. Yes, it has the same name as the other Edge of Reincarnation, but this time the difficulty is set to Carnage. Baal is now level 9,999,999.

Challenge the Rakshasa Dimension

Disgaea 6 - Rakshasa Dimension

Once you beat Carnage V, another bill will be available in the Dark Assembly — this one is called “Challenge the Rakshasa Dimension!” Like the “Challenge the Super Overlord when he’s serious!” bill, this one also costs 1,000,000 mana and has a 1% chance of success.

Like the previous bill, I decided to brute force this one. This time, there were no prinnies in the battle, but my crew still did fine in this fight. There was one senator at level 4.9 million again, but my crew was at about 6 million by this point in the game, so it really wasn’t difficult.

Once the bill passes:

  • Rakshasa Dimension will be available from the Dimension Guide
  • Every story map will now have the Rakshasa difficulty option (you can toggle the difficulty by pressing L or R in the map selection menu)
  • Cheat Shop CP increases by 2,000
  • Another trial in the Martial Dimension will unlock
  • [Lv Limit Break 2] will be available through Super Reincarnation
  • [Stat Limit Break 2] will be available through Super Reincarnation

Like the previous caps, these ones must be lifted via Super Reincarnation (see the “How to Increase Your Stats” section to refresh your memory on how to do that).

  • The new level cap is 99,999,999.
  • The base stat cap increases from 500 to 2,000.

Rakshasa Dimension

The ultimate challenge in Disgaea 6 is the Rakshasa Dimension, which is another massive difficulty spike over Carnage. Like the Carnage Dimension, Rakshasa features five stages of brutally difficult, escalating challenges. The first starts at level 12,500,000. Here’s a breakdown:

  • Rakshasa I – With a 0-star difficulty level, enemies are at level 12,500,000.
  • Rakshasa II – With a 0-star difficulty level, enemies are at level 40,000,000.
  • Rakshasa III – With a 0-star difficulty level, enemies are at level 66,660,000.
  • Rakshasa IV – With a 0-star difficulty level, enemies are at level 83,330,000.
  • Rakshasa V – With a 0-star difficulty level, enemies are at level 99,999,999.

Good luck.
