Deltarune Chapter 2

Undertale was well-known for its multiple routes and endings, most notably the “Genocide” or “No Mercy” route that involved the player killing everyone and everything. Developer Toby Fox was always interested in how monstrous someone would have to be to actually kill as much as an RPG protagonist did, and this route was a commentary on that. The light and humorous world of Undertale basically became a horror game with the difficulty turned way up. Of course, all the sickos of the gaming world gladly jumped at the opportunity to become serial killers.

When its sequel, Deltarune, came out, fans were a little confused because it seemed as if there was no comparable route. Chapter 1 seemed to really hammer home that player choice did not matter, and so we all accepted that this truly was a different sort of game.

Then Chapter 2 came out and, guess what? Toby Fox included a route dedicated to murder once more. It’s been called many things: the Snowgrave Route, the Weird Route, the Genocide Route, the Pipis Route, the Slash Route, the Alternate Route — take your pick. The point is, it’s the “evil” route and, in my opinion, it feels much, much worse than the “No Mercy” route in Undertale.

Deltarune Chapter 2

So how do you do it? Well, in Chapter 1, you were unable to head down any violent route because attempting to attack any enemy would cause them to run away. Even Jevil, the secret boss, seems to get away fairly unharmed. You can tell because, no matter what you do, you never gain XP or level up.

But in Chapter 2, things change.

I’m going to just break for a second to let you know there are going to be some pretty huge spoilers here.

The Route

Deltarune Chapter 2

The trick to this run is Noelle. She joins Kris as a party member about halfway through the game. She also has access to IceShock, the most powerful damage-dealing spell in the game. IceShock also freezes the enemy, preventing them from running. So to go down this route you’ll have to take this innocent girl and turn her into a cold-blooded killer.

Told you it felt horrible.

It is excessively hard to do this route, and you don’t really get much reward (except for making Noelle a killing machine). Knowing how Toby Fox operates, you’ll probably also have some long-term consequences for it as well

However, if you really wish to follow it, here is what you do:

Deltarune Chapter 2

Once you have Noelle in your party, backtrack to the Trash Zone and check the door to the left, which would normally be Spamton’s shop on any other route.

On the way there, you need to start killing every single enemy in your way using Noelle’s IceShock spell. DO NOT ATTACK WITH KRIS! Attacking with Kris will make enemies run away and will ruin the route. Instead, only defend with Kris, which should give you enough TP for one IceShock per turn.

After examining the door, head back through the City area, continuing to kill every enemy you see with IceShock. If you are doing it correctly, there will be no cars in the City but many enemies. You MUST clear each area you enter using only IceShock.

When you enter the room with the Ferris Wheel poster, either ignore it altogether or, if you want to see really creepy dialogue, examine it and choose the options “I will ride with you” and “Noelle will ride with me.” If you answer anything else, it will ruin the route.

Deltarune Chapter 2

Find the NPC ring dealer in the area. Answer “We’re something else” then try to walk away.

When the NPC stops you, choose the option “Get it” over and over again until you obtain the Freeze Ring. Equip it on Noelle. At this point the background music should have turned on.

Deltarune Chapter 2

Proceed onward to the first force field puzzle. When given a prompt, respond “That’s natural.” The music should fade back in as a creepy, slow, pitched-down version

In the room with two long roads, visit the dumpster. It should give you the message “4 Left.” If it does not, you will have to backtrack and kill more enemies with IceShock.

When you reach the second annoying mouse puzzle, choose “proceed” when prompted. Keep choosing this prompt until Noelle freezes the puzzle.

In the next four rooms there are four more monster encounters. Complete them in the normal way, by using IceShock.

Head back to the dumpster. You will be offered the Thorn Ring for 1997 Kromer. Purchase it and equip it to Noelle.

In the Berdly boss fight, you will notice Noelle has a new ability called SnowGrave. It requires max TP to be used (and can only be used because of the Thorn Ring, since it usually costs 200% TP). Keep attempting to cast it until the battle ends.

When the rest of your party reunites, only use violent actions. Do not act or spare.

You’ll notice several changes to the rest of the chapter, including the final boss fight which will be an amped-up, more difficult version of the secret boss, Spamton NEO, taken on by Kris alone.

There are many disturbing differences in the light world before the chapter ends.

And that’s basically it. Enjoy your weird evil villainous route… you monster. Guess we will have to wait until Chapter 3 to see the consequences of your actions.

i went to the ring dealer, but instead of rings they offered some dating shoes. i answered “we’re something else” to noelle’s dialogue and walked away from the NPC, but they didnt say anything. when i interacted with them, they said “May I interest you in some new Divorce Shoes?” with no prompt. i reloaded my save file and the same thing happened, even after choosing “Noelle will ride with me.” what should i do?

EDIT: nevermind, i realized i just have to backtrack and fight more enemies

I was stuck on the same bit. You actually just need to start heading away from the shopkeeper, instead of talking to them. The shopkeeper stops you and calls you back, offering the ring.

Player: *shoots Noelle’s peace of mind in the chest*
Player: Why would Kris do this?

Just wondering, after reuniting with your team, will using things like rude buster or heal prayer in battle break the thing or can you litterally ONLY attack, like no blocks items or non sparing actions

You can use heal prayer and rude buster and it won’t abort snowgrave
