Akita: King Pig Thinks Pink

It’s awesome how a game’s visual style can enhance just how fun it looks. Such is the case with Akita: King Pig Thinks Pink from developer Karuma Games.

The Spain-based studio describes this project as a “2D adventure-platformer Metroidvania.” One look at the trailer below, and that certainly seems like a good descriptor. And hey, Akita: King Pig Thinks Pink certainly looks pretty fun — especially if you’re looking for something to play with a friend, as it’ll support single-player and two-player co-op!

As enjoyable as the gameplay looks, it’s the art style of Akita: King Pig Thinks Pink that gives it a little bit of an edge. The hand-drawn cartoon visuals are reminiscent of both a Saturday morning cartoon and a quirky anime. Characters include dinosaurs, mermaids, ghosts, and all kinds of monsters.

The level backdrops look really cool, too, and they seem to include dungeons, castles, and ruins where, per Karuma Games, you’ll encounter different creatures and do a little puzzle-solving, too.

While consoles have yet to be specified, Akita: King Pig Thinks Pink is confirmed for a Steam release in 2022.
