FAR: Changing Tides is the upcoming sequel to the absolutely brilliant FAR: Lone Sails. For those unfamiliar with the first game, Lone Sails is a meditative game where you control a Jawa-looking creature who drives a giant machine across a barren tundra. That premise may not sound like much, but the game’s atmosphere is intoxicating and its puzzles are wonderfully conceived. I would say the game is a chill masterpiece that should be experienced by anyone who loves short, emotionally charged video games.
So I have to admit, I’m really looking forward to the next game in this incredible series, which has you piloting your craft through water now.
Today, Frontier Foundry (the games label of Frontier Developments) announced that FAR: Changing Tides will be launching on March 1, 2022. It’s coming to every current platform: PC (via both Steam and Epic), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, and it’ll be on Game Pass at launch. There’s really no excuse to let this one pass you by.
And while you probably don’t need to experience Lone Sails before you pick up Changing Tides (these games aren’t heavy on plot or anything), I would argue that Lone Sails is a must-play regardless.
