Hitman 3 - Krugermeier 2-2 Dark

In the Hitman World of Assassination trilogy, there’s a feature called Elusive Targets, which pits you against limited-time contracts where failure is permanent. While the short time window leads to some knuckle-clenching thrills, fans have long wanted a way to experience these contracts on a more permanent basis.

Well, today (January 20, 2022) that wish is fulfilled, as Hitman 3 finally adds its anticipated Elusive Target Arcade game mode, which gives you series of targets instead of just one, and failure will lock you out of the contract for 12 hours. This keeps the stakes high while also making these contracts available permanently. That balance was a tightrope walk, I’m sure, but IO Interactive managed to pull it off.

IO promised exclusive rewards for this mode, but so far there’s only one: the Krugermeier 2-2 Dark, which you’ll get for completing any of the three available contracts (more are coming in the future). If you’re not familiar, the Krugermeier is one of the best pistols in the game. It’s not as accurate as the Silverballer or Goldballer, but it’s the quietest gun in the entire trilogy. Previously, there were two variants of it, but this Elusive Target Arcade reward adds a third. And I have to say, it looks pretty darn sexy in black.

Of course, Elusive Target Arcade isn’t without its launch-day hiccups

In other Hitman news, the Hitman Trilogy launches today, bundling Hitman (2016), Hitman 2, and Hitman 3 into a single package. It’s available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic. It’s also a Game Pass title for Xbox and PC.

Additionally, there were some various bug fixes and whatnot in today’s patch, but you can read the full patch notes on IO Interactive’s official website.
