Windjammers 2 will be out later this week, and if you’re a fan of the first game, you’re probably really excited about this sequel. After all, this is the first new Windjammers game in more than two and a half decades.
So what can you do to burn the last couple days before the game’s January 20 launch? Obviously, you could hone your skills in the original game, which is super cheap on PS4 and Steam right now. I believe I got my PS4 copy for $6.
However, you could also kill a little time by watching a new documentary on the making of Windjammers 2. Titled “Windjammers 2 – An Arcade Legacy in 2022,” this almost-28-minute video gives you an inside look at the making of the game.
The whole thing kicks off with DotEmu CEO Cyrille Imbert giving the perfect one-line description of what makes Windjammers so great: “It combines sport game spirit with fighting game mechanics.” You’ll then get to meet the team behind the game and walk with them through the process of deconstructing the original game in order to understand exactly how the sequel should work. It’s a really neat look into the design concepts behind the game, and it eases some of the pre-launch tension to know just how much passion for the series this team actually has.
