No Man's Sky Sentinel

No Man’s Sky is more than five years old at this point, but that doesn’t mean Hello Games is ready to stop supporting it. In fact, in a recent interview with IGN, No Man’s Sky creator Sean Murray said “we’re not done yet by a long shot.”

And today, Murray put his money where his mouth is, with the Sentinel update, bringing the game to version 3.8. This update brings yet another barrage of new features and tweaks, including a revamped combat system and the official addition of the long-rumored flamethrower.

Now, the Minotaur has been my favorite exocraft for a while now, but it looks like Sentinels will get their own version of it to terrorize players with. But the arms race continues on the player side too, with Minotaur autopilot A.I. that lets your Minotaur fight alongside you in battle. On top of that, there are new Multi-Tool upgrades, including a cloaking device that will allow players to camouflage themselves from aggressive Sentinels.

This also comes with additional lore and story content, new types of Sentinel to contend with, and yet another feast of visual improvements (after several such feasts in the past — Hello Games certainly loves their visual feasts…)

There are some quality-of-life upgrades too, like increasing the max amount of Multi-Tools to six (up from three) and increasing the number of pets players can have.

The update is live now, and it will be a part of the Switch version when it launches this summer. For current players, we should see the game’s next Expedition, titled Exobiology, out next week.
