Elden Ring - Abandoned Cave

One of the most valuable items you’ll find on your Elden Ring journey is the Gold Scarab, a talisman that increases your rune acquisition by 20%. This also stacks on top of the Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot, which means you can really crank up your rune-farming game to 11.

So where can you find the Gold Scarab? Well, it’s inside the Abandoned Cave in Caelid, shown in the map below.

Now, it’s still a bit tricky to locate, even if you know where it is on the map, so I’ll give you some further instruction. The best way to approach it is to start at the Smoldering Wall Site of Grace, then travel East, avoiding those half-wolf, half-dino-chicken things as best you can. If you hug the wall, you shouldn’t aggro any of them.

You’ll eventually come to a ravine. From here, you want to move south until you find a fallen tree that will lead you to a ridge on the opposite side of the ravine. This ridge is where you’ll find the Abandoned Cave.

Here’s a video of me getting to it:

This cave is filled with dangers. You can end up getting both poison and Scarlet Rot at the same time, which is pretty much a death sentence. To protect yourself, you might want to stock up on Neutralizing Boluses and Preserving Boluses.

The hardest part of this entire cave is an open area where there’s a big flower, surrounded by smaller flowers, as well as poison-tossing enemies on a cliff. If you can survive this room, the boss fight is actually super easy. I popped the Mimic Tear and had both bosses (this is a dual-boss fight) down in like 90 seconds. Compared to the rest of the cave, the boss fight is pretty easy.

Once you beat the bosses, you’ll be rewarded with the Gold Scarab.

Now go farm some runes, you Maiden-Less Tarnished, you!
