Godlike Burger

In Godlike Burger, one of the worst possible things that can happen to you is that your appliances break down. It’s a minor inconvenience that just builds over time until it becomes maddeningly frustrating. In fact, I spent a whole article ranting about appliance breakdown.

Thankfully, there actually is a way to prevent this. However, it’s not immediately obvious how to do it — and I admit that it took me an embarrassingly long time to figure it out for myself. So here’s a quick little guide on preventing appliance breakdown in Godlike Burger.

You can only do this in between “days” in the game, when you’re back in your office. There’s a PC, where you order your supplies, like buns and veggies and whatnot.

From this menu, you can toggle through different tabs. One of those tabs is called Kitchen, and it features a little something called “Assurance.” This option has a badge icon, and the word Assurance is really not a super accurate descriptor for this feature. If you don’t read the flavor text, you might just scroll past this thinking it has something to do with security or the police.

There are two levels of upgrades here.

  • Level 1 – $100 – Causes appliances to break down less frequently.
  • Level 2 – $225 – Prevents appliances from ever breaking down.

These upgrades are persistent across runs, so once you upgrade this to the max, you shouldn’t have to worry about appliance breakdown ever again. Unfortunately, plumbing is not included here, so you will still need to fix clogged toilets.

And one other thing, if you start completely over (by pressing “New Game” on the main menu), you will undo all of your current progress and start from scratch. This means that even your persistent upgrades will be undone. So be careful when you’re monkeying around in the main menu (I learned this the hard way).

And that’s pretty much everything you should know about appliance breakdowns in Godlike Burger. Yeah, it’s pretty simple, but the game doesn’t do a great job of explaining it, and the menu icon can be deceiving.

Anyway, good luck with your burger joint, you twisted psycopath!
