If you’re like me and you bought No Man’s Sky during its disastrous launch back in 2016, and you’ve managed to hang onto the game ever since then, you’ve probably found it to be a gift that just keeps giving. Through update after update after update, Hello Games never seems to be done with this massive game.
Today, they kicked off a brand-new expedition called Leviathan. Now, this isn’t a proper update, with a robust list of new features, but it does add some twists to this universe-sized game. For one, it adds leviathans, which are the frigate equivalent of the organic ships — yes, these are organic frigates that can be added to your fleet.
On top of that, it adds some roguelike elements. The difficulty is set to Survival Mode, and players encounter a time loop, where every death resets the loop. And Hello claims that the more loops the community plays, the better the rewards will be, though it’s not clear exactly how that might work.
Either way, it’s exciting to see yet another expedition come to this never-ending space exploration game.
