Stray

A lot of people have had their eyes on Stray since it was originally announced back in 2020, but every time it made an appearance it was always without a release date. When exactly can we get our paws on this cyberpunk cat game?

Well, at today’s State of Play, it was finally revealed that Stray will be launching on July 19 of this year. And not only do we have a release date, but Sony also confirmed that Stray will be available to download for PS Plus Premium and Extra subscribers on day one, effectively kicking off Sony’s attempt to compete with Microsoft’s Game Pass day-and-date first-party titles.

And although we already know not to expect any first-party Sony heavy hitters to follow suit, this is a good indication that day-one Plus launches are not out of the question for “double-A” or indie-tier titles.

We didn’t really see a lot of new content for Stray — what the State of Play trailer showed was more or less more of the same. But that’s not a bad thing at all. Stray still looks gorgeous, and I am definitely excited to dig my claws into this one (while making as many feline-related puns as I can think of).

So, will you be picking this game up? Or, an even more interesting query: Is this enough to warrant a PS Plus upgrade from the Essential tier if you were on the fence before now?

While you’re thinking real hard about the answers to those questions, you can also check out the Stray State of Play trailer below.
