In TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge, every stage contains secrets to find. Some of these are collectibles, while others are cameos from side characters. You should be able to see how many secrets you still need to find in the pause menu:
As well as on the overworld map:
If you find all 10 cameos in the game, you’ll earn the “Biggest Fan!” achievement, and if you locate all collectibles and turn them in to their owners, you’ll earn the “Multitasker” achievement. As a bonus, once you locate one of each type of collectible, you’ll also earn the “Opening an Antique Store?” achievement.
So where are all of these secrets located? Well, read on, and I’ll show you the location of every single secret in TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge.
Episode 1: Jaw-Breaking News!
Location: Channel 6 Studios
Cameo: Burne Thompson
You’ll find a whole bunch of Foot Soldiers working on computers in an office area. Just beyond that, you’ll see a pulsating door. When you smash open the door, you’ll reveal Burne. If you find a cooking-show-themed area, you’ve gone too far.
Once you complete the level, a new location (Burne’s office) will appear on the world map (beneath Episode 1). If you visit this location, Burne will ask you to collect three Classic Headlines. When you find all three, you can return here to collect your reward (50 pts.)
Collectible: Classic Headline
Thankfully, the first Classic Headline is later in the same level. Right before the end of the stage (where you fight Bebop), you’ll see a crate and a pizza. Smash the crate to reveal the newspaper.
Episode 2: Big Apple, 3 PM
Location: Streets of New York
Collectible: Classic Headline
This one is really hard to miss. Early in the stage, there’s a store called TV Zone. The newspaper is just sitting near a grate beneath a poster for Channel 6.
Cameo: Irma Langinstein
Not too far beyond where you found the newspaper, you’ll see an apartment door with wriggling trash bags on either side of it. Smash open the door to reveal Irma Langinstein.
Once you locate her, a new location (Irma’s Apartment) will appear on the overworld map (below Episode 2). Irma will ask you to find five of her Secret Diaries, and once you do, you can return here to turn them in (for 75 pts.) The first Secret Diary can be found on this same level.
Collectible: Secret Diary
Just beyond the apartment where you find Irma, you’ll see a bunch of garages. At the very beginning of this section is a mailbox. Smash it open to collect the first Secret Diary. Note: If you get attacked by Foot Soldiers on motorcycles, you’ve gone too far.
Episode 3: Mutants Over Broadway!
Location: Broadway
There are no secrets in Episode 3.
Episode 4: Rumble in the Zoo
Location: Central Park Zoo
Collectible: Secret Diary
Pretty early in the level, in the area where there’s a lot of water in the road, you’ll see a trashcan next to a park bench. Smash open the trashcan to collect the Secret Diary.
Cameo: Attila
Just a little bit beyond where you found the Secret Diary, you should see two mailboxes next to each other. Attila is in the second one.
Collectible: Disgusting Bug
Just beyond the tiger cages, you’ll see a bunch of monkey who will throw things at you. There’s a trashcan near the monkeys, and you’ll find a Disgusting Bug when you smash it open.
Collectible: Classic Headline
Just a little bit after the Disgusting Bug, you’ll find a pizza outside the monkey cages. If you look to the right of that, you’ll see a stand for brochures. Destroy that to uncover the third and final Classic Headline (you can then return to Burne after the mission to collect your reward).
Episode 5: King of the Spill
Location: Sewers of New York
Collectible: Secret Diary
Really close to the beginning of the stage, you’ll see a couple brochure stands next to a waste receptacle and a vending machine. Smash the brochure stands to uncover the Secret Diary.
Cameo: Genghis
After dodging some subway trains, you’ll eventually be in the sewers proper, and you’ll come to a big vault in the wall. If you smash open that vault, you’ll reveal Genghis inside.
Collectible: Disgusting Bug
Just beyond the vault, you’ll come to a corner in the sewer and a crate. Smash open that crate to uncover a Disgusting Bug.
Episode 6: Mall Meltdown
Location: Crystal Palace Mall
Collectible: Secret Diary
Almost immediately after smashing through the wall into the mall, you’ll see a trash receptacle outside of a taco joint. Smash that sucker to uncover a Secret Diary.
Collectible: VHS Tape
Just before you reach the theater section, you’ll see a trash receptacle with two plants surrounding it. Smash the trash receptacle to collect the first VHS Tape collectible.
Cameo: Napoleon
A few feet past the VHS Tape, you’ll find a cardboard cutout that says Punk Frogs on it. Smash that open to reveal Napoleon, who happens to be one of the aforementioned Punk Frogs.
Cameo: Vernon Fenwick
After you pass the theater, you’ll go up an escalator to an arcade. There’s a popcorn machine in the arcade, and Vernon Fenwick is hiding inside it.
Once you find Vernon, a new location (Channel 6 Van) will open up on the overworld map (to the left of Episode 6). He wants you to find five VHS Tapes for him, and he’ll reward you with 100 pts. for returning them to him. Thankfully, if you’ve been following this guide, you already have the first one.
Collectible: Disgusting Bug
In the middle of the arcade, just past the first popcorn cart, you’ll see a second popcorn cart. This one is hiding a Disgusting Bug. Yeah, don’t eat the popcorn at Crystal Arcade…
Episode 7: Roof Running Reptiles!
Location: Rooftops
Collectible: Secret Diary
Almost right at the beginning of this stage, you’ll see a toolbox. Smash it open to collect the final Secret Diary. When you complete this level, you can return to Irma to collect your reward.
Collectible: VHS Tape
After your lengthy elevator ride, you’ll begin another section of rooftops. There’s a lone toolbox chilling up here, and you’ll need to smash that open to claim the second VHS Tape.
Collectible: Disgusting Bug
Just a little bit past the VHS tape location, you’ll see Bebop giving a thumbs up. Right behind him are some more toolboxes. Smash the smaller one on the left to claim your next Disgusting Bug. Note that if you walk too far to the right, you’ll trigger the boss fight against Bebop and Rocksteady.
Episode 8: Panic in the Sky!
Location: Manhattan Skyline
There are no collectibles in Episode 8.
Episode 9: Crisis at Coney Island!
Location: Coney Island
Cameo: Rasputin
Pretty close to the very beginning of this level, you’ll find a hot dog stand. Smash it open to uncover Rasputin.
If you’ve been following this guide, you should have now found all four of the Punk Frogs, which opens up a new location (Punk Frogs’ NYC Retreat) to the right of Episode 9. Here, the Punk Frogs will ask you to collect Disgusting Bugs for them. They’re in luck, because there’s another one of those later on in the Coney Island level.
Collectible: Disgusting Bug
You’ll eventually come to an area where a bunch of ninjas have taken over the carnival games. In this section, you’ll find a brochure stand next to a trashcan. There’s a Disgusting Bug inside the trashcan.
Episode 10: A Few Screws Loose
Location: Silicon Alley
Collectible: Disgusting Bug
Very early in this stage, you’ll encounter a loading dock area with a trashcan. Knock the crap out of that trashcan and claim your Disgusting Bug!
Collectible: VHS Tape
Later in the stage, you’ll come to a concrete area with a bunch of shelves and some boxes and things, just before a conveyor belt. In all this garbage, there’s a crate that has a VHS Tape inside it.
Episode 11: Dinosaur Stampede!
Location: Natural History Museum
Collectible: VHS Tape
Early on in this stage, you’ll see some wall displays that are pretty hard to miss. In this section, there’s a rack of brochures that houses a VHS Tape. Just smash it open!
Collectible: Disgusting Bug
Shortly after the VHS Tape, you’ll enter a sort of storage room. There’s a crate next to an iron maiden, and in that crate is a Disgusting Bug.
Collectible: Crystal Shard
Later in this same area, you’ll see another crate, which has a Crystal Shard inside it.
Cameo: Dask
Just around the corner from that last crate, you’ll encounter some dudes who burst out of paintings, and right after that happens you’ll find yet another crate in front of a red tent. Inside this one, though, you’ll find Dask.
Episode 12: It Won’t Fly!
Location: Secret Laboratory
Collectible: Disgusting Bug
There’s a section in the lab where some robotic pillars come out of the floor and shoot a cold mist that will freeze your character in a block of ice. In the midst of all these pillars is a crate that’s hiding a Disgusting Bug.
If you’ve been following this guide, this should be your last Disgusting Bug. You can now turn them in at the Punk Frogs’ NYC Retreat for your reward.
Episode 13: Technodrome Redux
Location: Balaraphon
Collectible: VHS Tape
Pretty close to the beginning of the level, you’ll encounter a laser device that’s suspended from the ceiling. In this general area, you’ll see a crate that contains a VHS Tape. If you’ve been following this guide, this should be your last tape. You can now return to the Channel 6 van and turn these in for your reward.
Cameo: Kala
Shortly after the VHS Tape, you’ll see a bunch of what look like silos flipped on their sides. Some of them will bust open, revealing enemies inside, but if you actually burst open the first one on your own, you’ll find Kala.
Collectible: Crystal Shard
After the mid-level boss fight, you’ll come to an area with a massive rift in the ground. Beyond that you’ll find three crates. The Crystal Shard is in the top one.
Episode 14: The Lost Archenemies
Location: Volcanic Asteroid
Cameo: Zak
Toward the end of this stage, you’ll see some trapdoors in the ground, and some laser guns will pop out of them to shoot at you. In this area, you’ll see an anemone-looking thing. If you smash it, you’ll find Zak. The boss fight with Slash will happen just a little bit beyond this point.
If you’ve been following this guide, Zak should be the third Neutrino that you find. When you find all three of them (Dask, Kala, and Zak), you will unlock a new area (Dimension X Hangout) on the overworld map, just above Episode 14.
Episode 15: Outworld Strangeoids
Location: Outworld Hideout
Collectible: Crystal Shard
About midway through this stage, you’ll find a whole bunch of crates and barrels — it’s really hard to miss. The crate on the bottom has a Crystal Shard in it. And that should complete your Crystal Shard collection. You can head over to the Dimension X Hangout to turn them in for your reward.
Episode 16: Wrath of the Lady
Location: Times Square
There are no collectibles in this episode.
