Cult of the Lamb is a strange beast indeed. Even after having played a preview build of the game (courtesy of Devolver Digital), I have a bit of trouble explaining exactly what it is. I mean, it’s sort of a combination of The Binding of Isaac and Don’t Starve, but there’s also a whole cult-building mechanic that comes into play pretty early on. I promise you, though, whatever this game is, it’s phenomenally addictive.
Thanks to a new trailer, I can just show you what I mean instead of having to come up with words to describe this unusual experience.
The trailer is called “Sermons from the Lamb: Starting Your Cult,” and it walks you through some of those cult-building elements. Admittedly, these are still a bit vague, but at least you can gawk at the game’s gorgeous hand-drawn-style art.
This trailer also shows off what a more fleshed-out hub world looks like, something I wasn’t able to accomplish in my limited time with the game.
Cult of the Lamb is almost here, with an August 11 release date on Steam, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. You can check out the “Sermons from the Lamb” trailer for Cult of the Lamb below.
