Stray Can’t Cat-ch Me Trophy Guide: How to Complete the First Zurk Pursuit Without Being Caught

In the cyberpunk cat game Stray, there’s a hidden Trophy called Can’t Cat-ch Me, which asks you to “Complete the first Zurk pursuit without being caught.” This can be completed in the Dead City chapter, which is pretty early in the game. Unfortunately, it’s actually kind of hard.

First up, the Zurk pursuit happens when your character encounters nests of these things that look kind of like Headcrabs and kind of like glowing ticks. There will be a cutscene, and then the chase will begin. If at any time you are caught, there will be a circle icon and the screen will begin fading to red. If you press the circle button fast enough, you’ll shake off the Zurk and be allowed to continue.

However, your goal is to make it through this stretch of the game without being caught a single time. Thankfully, if you do get caught, you can reload your last checkpoint, which should take you back to the beginning of this sequence so you can try again. Simply press the Options button and use the “Reload Last Checkpoint” option in the menu.

Now, aside from that, there are a few things to know about this. First off, I don’t know any way to cheese this. I’m sure someone will figure something out eventually, but for now, I’m doing this the old-fashioned way and playing it the way it was intended to be played.

Second, this is all about repetition and memorization. The better you know the path, the better your chances of making it through.

Third, the Zurk creatures are the most dangerous when they are in the air immediately after jumping. Once they hit the ground, they don’t seem like they can catch you anymore. Also, there seems to be a narrow of window before they jump when they also can’t catch you. So what you’re trying to dodge is the ones that are currently in the middle of a jump.

Fourth, it kind of seems like you can scare them a little bit if you meow as they approach. I’m not completely certain this is the case, but it does kind of seem that way if you watch the footage of my run.

And that’s how you earn the Can’t Cat-ch Me Trophy in Stray. At the time of this writing, only 0.9% of players have unlocked this one, so if you do manage to get it, you’re in good company.
