While you’re in one of Cult of the Lamb‘s randomly generated dungeons, you might happen upon a weird feathered bird thing named Clauneck. If you talk to him, he will give you a choice between two Tarot Cards, each granting you a perk that will persist until the end of that dungeon run.
These cards are randomly selected from a pool of Tarot Cards that you’ve unlocked. 15 are unlocked by default, but the remaining 21 need to be unlocked by progressing through the game. There are many different ways to unlock these cards, so I’m going to walk you through every single Tarot Card in Cult of the Lamb.
Note that many of these cards are unlocked at various vendors strewn about the game world. To unlock these locations, you generally just need to meet a specific character during a dungeon run, and this should happen automatically as you progress through the game. So if you don’t currently have access to a location that I mention here, go defeat some more dungeon bosses and see if you bump into any of these characters along the way.
Also, when you acquire all 36 Tarot Cards, you will unlock the Full Deck Achievement/Trophy
The Hearts I
A minor remedy.
- Perk: Gain an extra heart.
- How to unlock: Unlocked by default.
The Hearts II
A remedy.
- Perk: Gain an extra heart.
- How to unlock: Win a game of Knucklebones against Ratau.
Ratau is a character who offers you a little bit of guidance in the early part of Cult of the Lamb. He will show up to talk to you the first few times you attempt to do dungeons, and eventually (I believe this should happen once you’ve unlocked your first Doctrine), you will have the chance to travel to the Lonely Shack.
Inside the Lonely Shack, you’ll meet Ratau again, who’s itching to teach you a game called Knucklebones. If you can win just one round against Ratau (it’s honestly not that hard if you understand the game rules), you will unlock The Hearts II.

- How to unlock: You will have to meet Ratoo inside a dungeon to unlock this.

Once you’ve talked to them, travel to the Lonely Shack and play Knucklebones against Flinky. If you can win just one round, you will unlock the Mithridatism Tarot Card.

You will meet Shrumy in the final dungeon, sometime after you’ve beaten the first two bosses. Talk to them and they’ll head over to the Lonely Shack to play Knucklebones with Ratau.
If you can beat Shrumy at a game of Knucklebones, you’ll receive the Strength from Within card.

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

First, you’ll need to beat the first three dungeon bosses in Darkwood. When you’re getting close to fighting Leshy, you should stumble upon a character called the Fisherman. Talk to him, and he’ll give you access to a location called Pilgrim’s Passage.
When you go to Pilgrim’s Passage, the Fisherman will be standing near the water on the right-hand edge of the area.
Talk to him again, and he’ll ask you to catch a fish. You just have to walk toward the shore, and a fishing minigame will pop up. If you can successfully catch a fish, the Fisherman will give you the Neptune’s Curse Tarot Card.

Ambrosia
Drink deep the liquor of Gods.
- Perk: Increased curse attack damage by 1.25x.
- How to unlock: Buy from Forneus from 30 gold coins.
Forneus is a NPC that occasionally shows up on the game board. Look for the “house” icon on the dungeon nodes map.
Note that there could be a number of different NPCs that show up when you go to this node, but there is a chance you’ll get Forneus. Look specifically for the tiny cat head icon beneath the house icon.
Forneus offers you the choice between three items, all of which are sitting upon pedestals, and you can choose whichever of these you want. However, they also have a gold pedestal, which has a Tarot Card on it.
This card will cost you 30 gold coins, and it will unlock the Ambrosia Tarot Card. If you don’t quite have enough gold coins, you can attack the various crates and flowerpots around Forneus. There should be gold coins hiding inside them, though if you’re really short on coins you probably won’t earn enough just by smashing stuff in this room.
