We often talk about how games with pixel art look like NES or SNES classics. Sometimes they remind us of the days we’d spent at the arcades. Every so often, though, a game comes along that doesn’t look like something you’d see on a Nintendo platform in the ‘80s or ‘90s, but rather on the Sega Genesis.
Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider has all kinds of Sega Genesis-looking appeal to it.
The game features 2D action-platforming gameplay. Thematically, it has a very distinctive dystopian, futuristic look to it. You play as a cyborg super soldier in a bleak totalitarian techno-future. Yeah, this definitely sounds like the makings of a game back in the ‘90s, and we’re all for it!

You’ll hack-and-slash your way through robotic enemies and huge bosses, toss projectiles, and engage in plenty of platforming. Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider also allows you to modify and upgrade your character’s abilities. The game looks like a blast, with precision platforming and fast-paced action at center stage here.
Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider is developed by JoyMasher, the studio that previously worked on the Contra-esque Blazing Chrome. Handling publishing duties is The Arcade Crew, who in addition to Blazing Chrome previously published Infernax and Young Souls.
You can expect Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider to pop up on consoles and PC sometime this fall.
