Wordless

Revealed during Gamescom 2022, Worldless is an upcoming 2D platformer that’s filled with aesthetic style and some interesting gameplay hooks.

Visually, it has somewhat of a minimalistic look going on, but it’s still super stylized. There are rich colors, starry backgrounds, and bright lighting effects. Worldless definitely hits a very specific type of surreal vibe.

The gameplay looks pretty intriguing, too, and it seems like there will be some variety with how you progress. Though Worldless appears to be a 2D platformer at its core, the game also features fast-paced hack-and-slash gameplay. Aside from that, though, it looks like enemy encounters will occur in a separate RPG-like screen and feature turn-based combat.

Wordless Turn-Based Gameplay

The RPG elements extend beyond turn-based gameplay, though, and it looks like you’ll be able to earn skill points and customize your character with new moves. In addition, publishers Thunderful and Coatsink along with developer NoNameStudios have stated that the game will feature progression that’s more in line with the Metroidvania genre, so that should be pretty cool.

Currently, Worldless is on track for a 2023 release window on Xbox platforms and PC.
