Asterigos: Curse of the Stars

Asterigos: Curse of the Stars has a pretty hefty runtime (it took me just over 47 hours the first time, but I also write guides, so my playtime tends to be longer than average). But if you want to extend that even further, the game features a New Game Plus mode.

Before you commit to a second cycle, you probably want to know exactly what carries over and what doesn’t. So I’ve compiled a complete list of everything that carries over into the second playthrough.

What do you get for starting New Game Plus?

First off, I want to talk you through what happens when you start a New Game Plus round.

Your second round will be more difficult than the first. However, the items that you can acquire are upgraded versions. For example, the game’s first boss, Ravenous the Devourer, drops the White Starite Brooch on your first playthrough. When you beat him the second time, he drops the White Starite Brooch+, which is a better version of that same item. Ravenous is still a pushover, I will say.

Further, you’ll acquire the Battle Maiden Outfit, which is a new armor that can be equipped in the menu.

Okay, so you’re going to lose the ability to fast-travel between Conduits (until you unlock it again), so that sucks. But you’ll also get to keep all of your items (including all of your trinkets), all of your weapons (still upgraded), and all of your character progression (including levels, Attribute Points, and Skill Points).

Your entire journal resets too, so all the progress you made collecting documents and witnessing Echoes will be wiped. Your “Game Record” in the Archive menu will also be reset, but it will have an additional field that tracks your current round playtime versus your total playtime.

Should I play New Game Plus?

Whether you decide to start a New Game Plus save file or not is completely up to you. If you think the rewards outweigh the setbacks, then go for it. Personally, I find the lack of fast-travel hard to stomach, but I guess I get why they take it away.

If you’re not sure what to do, you can always create an additional save file before embarking on the final quest, which is what I did. I had some other stuff I wanted to clean up, so I didn’t want to fully commit to a second round quite yet.
