Chinese Frontiers

I love a good life sim. I fell head-over-heels for Medieval Dynasty and I’m champing at the bit to play Wild West Dynasty whenever it eventually releases (assuming it doesn’t get cancelled). So when I stumbled upon Chinese Frontiers while browsing through Steam Next Fest titles, I knew I had to have it.

I will have to wait until it releases, of course, which it’s planned to do in Q3 of 2023.

In Chinese Dynas… err.. Chinese Frontiers, you play the role of one of many Chinese workers in a settlement tasked with building the Great Wall of China, in order to help stymy the advances of the encroaching mongrel forces. I haven’t tried the demo yet, but judging from the gameplay videos on the Steam page, it looks like players can expect the typical crop of survival and crafting mechanics, from farming and fishing to cooking and perhaps even hunting (not to mention what looks like a bevy of crank turning!)

Chinese Frontiers

You can download a demo for Chinese Frontiers during the Steam Next Fest (until October 10) to see if it’s in your wheelhouse, which I will be doing later today. But based on what little I’ve seen thus far, I am hopeful that this will be a worthy entry in the survival life sim genre.

That being said, if the MAGA movement has taught us anything, wall-building intentions and rhetoric do not a great wall make….

In any event, you can check out the trailer below, while keeping in mind that Chinese Frontiers is still very much in development.
