Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town

If you’ve been playing a lot of Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town, you might have noticed that the loading screens are designed to look like photographs. It’s a nice little touch that makes you feel like you’re already getting nostalgic for your small-town life, reminiscing while looking through photos.

If you’re lucky, you’ll end up seeing some beautiful scenery, like this:

However, you might also end up seeing stuff like this:

Yes, the animals in Pioneers of Olive Town have butts, and those butts come complete with holes. It’s… well, it’s pretty weird. The first time an image like this popped up in my game, I was a bit startled. Why would Marvelous Interactive include buttholes in such an innocent game? On top of that, why would they feature those buttholes in loading screens?

Then it dawned on me. The photographs shown as your loading screens are taken from other players. This is why online connectivity is enabled. It’s actually a pretty neat little feature, once you realize what’s happening. But the moment Marvelous decided to add some detail to animal butts to a game that gives players access to a camera feature, butt pics were inevitable. Throw in the loading screen feature and, well, what else did anybody expect?

On top of that, you’ll also come across stuff like this:

Hey, I know what’s going on in that second image. Someone was trying to creep up Blair’s dress, but they were unsuccessful.

Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is pretty tame. There’s not a lot of cleavage to ogle or saucy shots of undergarments to be had, which means you won’t end up seeing anything too terribly offensive. Still, you should never underestimate the creativity of people with access to online features, even in a sweet little farming sim like Pioneers of Olive Town.

It’s hard to say if Marvelous will start filtering these images, or hire someone to monitor them, but I have a feeling that’s not going to happen. There are plenty of other issues with the game that need to be addressed, and I have a feeling no one at Marvelous is going to want to spend their days looking at pictures of animal butts, even if they made those butts themselves.
