Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Well, it’s official. There’s a new Pokémon generation on the way, with Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet coming out later this year. That’s right, these games have a 2022 release date (which I honestly wasn’t expecting, considering Pokémon Arceus is just a month old right now).

We got a little looksy at the three starters: the grass-type Sprigatito, the fire-type Fuecoco, and the amazing water-type Quaxly. I have to say, I already love Quaxly, which is going to look so cute next to my main pal Farfetch’d. It looks like I’ll be breaking from my longtime tradition of always picking a fire starter (though let’s be real, Fuecoco is pretty cool too).

This also does appear to be using the same open-world-lite approach as its predecessors, Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, at least based on the footage that was revealed.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Considering the previous gen never gave us a complete National Dex (kicking off the controversy known as “Dexit”), Scarlet/Violet seems like the perfect opportunity to make amends and give players what we’ve come to expect from any new Pokémon game: a complete Dex with every single Pokémon in it. I mean, the tagline of this series has long been “Gotta catch ’em all,” and without a complete Dex, that’s literally impossible to accomplish.

The reason, we came to find out, is that with the complexity of the animations on Switch, and the sheer number of Pokémon to balance, having a full Dex was an insurmountable task for the Switch’s first mainline Pokémon outing.

However, with Sword/Shield and their expansions, the Dex contains over 600 entries (and here’s a list of every single still-missing Poké). All of those Pokémon have been fully coded, animated, and balanced at this point. So it does seem reasonable — to me, at least — that we could actually see a complete Dex this time around. If we don’t, I have a feeling that Scarlet/Violet might not go down quite as smoothly as Game Freak thinks.

So please, Game Freak, do us a solid and give us a complete Dex. That’s what pretty much everyone wants. Well, except for this guy

The problem was that all of the coding was not complicated as the base is the same for every game. You just need to add some lines for each new pokemon/move/ability… and even if it was. We’re talking about the most valuable franchise that not even mikey beat in money. Also all of the animations and models was already done from the X/Y(it was already in 1080p).The only thing they did was add some filters and shaders. At the time, a solo person that did in ONE day an animation for wingul better than the one in game. They only did this cut because they can spend less money and most people still buy anyway… I really hope they change their mind, but i really doubt it will happen
