I really can’t get enough of alchemy games. There’s just something I love about gathering ingredients, standing in front of a cauldron, and crafting the perfect item. While I’ve played nearly every Atelier game — or at least all the ones available in English — there aren’t many other games with a heavy emphasis on alchemy. Little Witch in the Woods looks like it might change that.

Little Witch in the Woods is a fantasy RPG and simulation game from South Korean developer Sunny Side Up. The game’s goal is simple: to let players experience life as a witch. You play as Ellie, an apprentice witch that’s working to graduate from witch school. In order to get good grades and graduate, you’ll need to spend plenty of time crafting potions in your cauldron.

Of course, there’s much more to Little Witch in the Woods than alchemy. The game starts out in a small village. As you develop your magic skills, you’ll be able to help the town expand and grow. You can fish, catch bugs, and take on giants. You can get to know NPCs and even fall in love.

You can see even more of what Little Witch in the Woods has to offer in the video from Wholesome Games below, which includes more than 30 minutes of demo footage. The game scheduled to be released on Steam in 2021, with PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch versions to follow.
