Trek to Yomi caught our attention when it was introduced in a brief trailer at E3 2021. This is a Samurai game that takes its visual design from classic Samurai films, specifically the works of Akira Kurosawa.
While the style is definitely eye-catching, what really matters is how the thing actually plays. A Samurai game lives and dies by its combat, after all. And today we got a closer look at that element of the game in a brand-new combat trailer.
While I can’t speak to how this actually feels to play, it does look quite lovely, with both katana-based combat and bow-and-arrow ranged combat. Even with the deliberately low framerate (to mimic those old Samurai films), combat does look snappy and responsive.
I can’t wait to actually play this thing, and it seems like we won’t have to wait much longer. The trailer also reveals a launch window of Spring 2022 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
