I’m super, super excited about the upcoming Yuffie episode for the PS5 version of Final Fantasy VII Remake. However, I’m seeing one detail misreported all over the place, and I want to correct it.
While owners of the PS4 version of Final Fantasy Remake will get the PS5 upgrade for free, the Yuffie episode is not a part of that deal. This is separate DLC exclusively available for the PS5 version of the game.

Yes, you’ll have to upgrade to the PS5 version for free, then you can purchase the Yuffie episode. You will get the other features– such as higher-resolution graphics and photo mode — as part of the free upgrade.
I just wanted to clear this up before it gets out of hand, as I’m seeing it misreported all over the internet today. Gamespot reported it, for example, and so did CNET. Polygon did too, but they corrected their article already. These are massive sites, so I’m sure a lot of people are getting the wrong information.
Yes, I’m super excited about this. But no, it’s not free. While that’s a little bit disappointing, it’s still pretty cool that we get all the other stuff as part of the upgrade and aren’t required to buy a fresh copy of the game.
