A spooky new roguelite is currently in development by Spain-based indie Saona Studios. Death or Treat is a 2D hack-and-slash roguelite that features a cartoon-like hand-drawn art style.
You play as a character named Scary, who’s on a mission to save the spirit of Halloween. Death or Treat is set in HallowTown, where candy and all things dreary are welcome, and it’s up to you to restore order.
The game will have fast-paced combat that includes multiple unlockable attacks as well as passive abilities. One such move, for example, will turn you into a mini-tornado and let you wipe out groups of enemies.
Visually, Death or Treat is a little reminiscent of titles like Hollow Knight and the upcoming Have a Nice Death. It also has a quirkier old school Nickelodeon look like Flipping Death.
While an exact release date hasn’t been announced yet, Death or Treat is scheduled to launch on PC and consoles in Spring 2023.
