Back in The Sims — yes, the very first one — my Sim had a very specific routine that he would use to court other Sims. A mating ritual, if you will. This routine involved befriending someone, inviting them to a ski resort, and then convincing them to get into a hot tub where they’d woohoo the night away.
No matter the Sim, they absolutely loved getting busy in the hot tub when surrounded by snow. In fact, I’m pretty sure my Sim forged a lot of unlikely lifelong friendships this way. Every single Sim, from his workplace fling to the gruff neighbor who hated his guts at first, would be completely enamored after a trip to the snowy north.
So there’s a part of me that always feels nostalgic when I think about winter resorts in The Sims. Unfortunately, the latest mainline game in the franchise, The Sims 4, still has not added them as a vacation option.
But it looks like that’s changing soon, my Sim-loving friends, for the upcoming Sims 4 expansion, revealed today, is called Snowy Escape. We’ll know more about it when the trailer releases tomorrow, but until then, I think it’s pretty safe to speculate that this will bring winter resorts into The Sims 4.
I’m pretty excited about this. While I’ve long abandoned my original Sim (who I haven’t re-created since The Sims 2), part of me wonders if I should keep my eye open. When it’s late at night, and I happen to be walking by the hot tub area, I just might spot my old pal, splashing around and making moves. If so, I don’t think I’ll be able to resist his call.
