Rollerdrome

Indie title Rollerdrome was definitely one of the surprise announcements at Sony’s State of Play showcase on June 2, 2022. Rollerdrome is a cell-shaded roller arena shooter from developer Roll 7 and publisher Private Division (both of which were behind OlliOlli World). A third-person, single-player action game, Rollerdrome is set in the year 2030 in a world where corporations entertain the populace with a violent new sport: the titular Rollerdrome.

Replete with a pulsating synthwave soundtrack, Rollerdrome looks to pit players against all manner of weapon-wielding foes, all of whom must be dispatched while the player roller-skates using firearms and slow-mo jumps and maneuvers in skate parks from hell. Each kill will replenish any lost health, while performing tricks and grinds will award you with the ammunition needed to net those aforementioned kills.

You will also be able to compete against other player’s scores via an online leaderboard, although cooperative or competitive play don’t seem to be an option — at least as of yet.

Rollerdrome is coming to Steam, PS5, and PS4 on August 16, 2022. You can check out the Rollerdrome page on the Roll 7 website for more info, and don’t forget to wishlist it via digital storefronts.
